I’m trying to get a feel for what types of books children enjoy (especially today’s generation), so I’m not asking for recommendations to classics, award winners, etc., most of which I’ve read many times over. What I’m asking for are specific books that you or your children particular like or liked, particularly in the 4th- to 8th-grade range.

I respect your answer, but I didn’t care for ‘The Great Gatsby’. I had to read it in high school.

I think everyone should read ‘The Shepard of the Hills’.

I also have leather bound classic books by Dean Press, not sure of the copyright date. The classics range from Pride and Prejudice to Emerson Essays. I have 19 books in all.

Nifermom2_2 asked:

When I was growing up I loved the childrens book that had little shape characters that lived in a town together. They were for example named Mr. Square and Mrs. circle.

I have children of my own and would love to share these books with them, but cannot remember the name or author. I also haven’t seen them and I am the only one that remembers them. lol Am I confusing two things together or did they really exist.

Does anyone remember these books and know what they are called or the author??

Thank you so much in advance!!
